Making the Case

Why You Should Always Get a Plus in 1-For-1 Trades of the Same Position
If someone will agree to a 1-for-1 trade of the same position, they must believe that you have the more valuable player. They are in essence asking you for free money.
& you should always be trying to exploit that fact.
Even if you prefer their player, straight-up.
If your trade partner is willing to do a trade straight-up, they should be willing to add something on top.
It’s just a matter of figuring out what that something is.
Push for future 2/3 swaps in your favor, even if they picks are 2 or 3 years down the road.
Push for future 3’s, throw-in players, something.
It’s a matter of leverage, & it’s important that you make a habit of exploiting it.
Getting insulation on top of 1-for-1 trades will protect you (at least somewhat) if (when) you choose the wrong player (it happens a lot more than we’d like to admit).
