A
- ADOT: Average depth of target; the average distance a player is from the line of scrimmage when targeted.
- ADP: Average draft position; the average pick a player is selected across a collection of ALL completed drafts.
- Air Yards: The number of yards the ball travels in the air when a player is targeted, regardless of whether or not the pass is completed.
B
- Bestball: A scoring format which auto-populates the starting lineup with the roster's highest-scorers each week.
- BOA: Breakout age; a college player's age (at the start of the season) when they first hit or surpass a 20% Dominator Rating (15% for TE's & RB's).
- Bust: A player who fails to meet expectations.
- BPA: Best player available.
C
- CLV: Closing-line value; a bestball term describing the difference between where a player is drafted at an earlier date vs where that player's ADP finishes upon the tournament's drafting conclusion.
- Combine: Annual event where incoming collegiate players are weighed, measured, interviewed, & tested in drills (including the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, vertical jump, broad jump, 3-cone, & bench press), before they are drafted to NFL teams.
- Committee: Any group of 2+ players who split time playing the same position.
- CPOE: Completion percentage over expected; A passer’s actual completion percentage compared to their expected completion percentage, which considers factors like down, distance, receiver separation, time to throw, etc.
D
- Dart-Throw: A player with a low likelihood of success.
- Day 1: Round 1 of the NFL Draft.
- Day 2: Round 2-3 of the NFL Draft.
- Day 3: Round 4-7 of the NFL Draft.
- DEF: Defense.
- Dominator Rating: A player's percentage of their team's yards + TD's divided by 2 (receiving yards for WR's & TE's, total yards for RB's). [ex. 30% of yards + 20% of TD's / 2 = 25% Dominator Rating]
- DTC: Dynasty Trade Calculator; a popular website/trade calculator.
- Dual-Threat: Quarterbacks who can pass & run.
- DVOA: Defense-adjusted value over average; a measurement of offensive success which accounts for defensive strength, situation, & league-average success-rates in identical situations.
- Dynasty: Format where fantasy teams start the next season with the same rosters they finished the previous season with.
E
- Early-declare: A player who declares for the NFL Draft after only 3 collegiate seasons (including redshirt years).
- ECR: Expert consensus rankings; a player's average ranking amongst a group of experts.
- EPA: Expected points added; measurement of QB (& team) performance in given situations (down, distance, time left) relative to league-average success-rates.
- ETR: Establish the Run; a popular fantasy sports & betting website.
- EV: Expected value.
- Expected Fantasy Points: The league-average number of fantasy points scored on a given workload (with specific carries & targets (such as redzone carries & targets) carrying higher value).
F
- Fantasy-Eligible: Any week that occurs during the fantasy season or fantasy playoffs (excludes Week 18 & the NFL Playoffs).
- FFPC: Fantasy Football Players Championship; a popular website hosting both redraft tournaments & dynasty leagues.
- Flex: A RB, WR, or TE who isn't good enough to fill a positional slot but is good enough to fill an additional starting slot.
- FUD: Fear, uncertainty, & doubt.
H
- Handcuff: A backup player who would immediately become a startable fantasy asset in the event the starter in front of them is injured or misses time.
- HVT: High-value touches.
K
- K: Kicker.
- KTC: KeepTradeCut; a popular website which asks voters to choose between 3 players, tracks the results, & displays the leaders; a rapidly updating proxy for real-time ADP.
L
- Live Draft: An in-person, offline draft.
- LOS: Line of scrimmage.
M
- MTF: Missed tackles forced, as defined by PFF: "whether it is a juke move that avoids contact all together, breaking an arm tackle, or a ‘truck stick’ that bowls over a defender, all are considered missed tackles."
O
- OTB: On the (trade) block.
- OTC: On the clock.
- OTD: Opportunity-adjusted TD's; a player's expected number of TD's, based on how many carries & targets they receive (& the location/situation they receive them in), using a league-average rate.
P
- P2S%: Percentage of pressures turned into sacks
- PC: Point per-carry; fantasy leagues where players are awarded 1 point per-carry.
- PPR: Point per-reception; fantasy leagues where players are awarded 1 point per-reception.
- Premium: Any format where a specific position (typically, TE) is awarded more points than other positions in a specific category (typically receptions).
R
- RB: Runningback.
- RBBC: Runningback by committee; a group of 2+ RB's who split time.
- Redraft: Single-season fantasy football format.
- ROO: Range of outcomes.
- RYOE: Rushing yards over expectation; measurement using down, distance, defensive alignment, & o-line grades to determine how many yards are gained or lost relative to a league-average output.
- RYPTA: Receiving yards per-team attempt; (yards/attempts).
S
- Sleeper: A player off of most people's radar who you believe will break out.
- Standard: Traditional format where players are only awarded fantasy points for yards & TD's – not receptions.
- Startup: The inaugural draft in the first year of a dynasty league.
- Streaming: Picking up a free agent with an ideal weekly matchup, starting them, & then dropping them for a player with a better matchup the following week; typically done with DEF's (facing bad offenses), RB's (due to the constant "stream" of backups elevated to starting roles via a starter's injury), & QB's in 1QB leagues.
T
- Target: When a player has the ball thrown to them on a passing play, regardless of whether or not the pass is completed.
- Target-Share: A player's percentage of their team's total targets.
- TE: Tight-End.
- TE-P: Tight-End Premium; formats which reward TE's more points than other positions (for receptions, yards, first-downs, etc.)
- TGT: Target.
U
- UDFA: Undrafted Free Agent; a player who is not selected at any point in the NFL Draft & is granted free agency.
W
- Waivers: System determining the order teams can add free agents. Either rolling waivers (where teams are given priority, & move to the end of the priority list after making a successful "claim"), or resetting waivers (where teams are given priority based on the standings each week, worst to first).
- Workhorse: A starting RB who isn't in a committee & handles the majority of BOTH their team's RB carries & RB targets.
- WR: Wide-Receiver.

- Y/A: Yards per-attempt
- YAC: Yards after-contact or yards after the catch.
- YKB: You know ball (all the cool kids are saying it).
- YDKB: You don't know ball (cool kid insult).
- YPR: Yards per-reception.
